Volunteers are critical to SBLC and saves the Center thousands of dollars that otherwise would have been provided for through hired staff. In FY 15, nearly 30 volunteers contributed 1,400 direct service hours and 120 volunteers gave over 3,000 hours in indirect service.
As a direct service volunteer you will work with our adult learners on their educational journey and provide them with the support and tools they need to succeed.
Opportunities include: Individual tutoring with beginning readers; Classroom Assistant in onsite & offsite classes; Tutoring in the Drop-in lab; Assisting in the computer lab; and Career Mentoring. Tutoring can be done when convenient for the volunteer.
SBLC welcomes volunteers who would like to use their expertise outside the classroom such as marketing, website development, finance and historic building maintenance.
Opportunities: Office Assistant, Special events, various committees. SBLC has opportunities for qualified individuals to become a Board or Advisory Council member.
