Welcome to SBLC|Learning Works!

SBLC provides a supportive, rigorous, and transformative education for adults 18 years of age and older who are eager to learn, motivated to succeed, and committed to making a difference in their lives and those of others. We are a tuition FREE learning center educating learners and empowering them to succeed by securing better jobs, enhancing their personal lives, and contributing to their community.

About SBLC

South Baltimore Learning Center was started in 1990, and has grown to serve hundreds of adults each year offering a variety of educational services.

Our vision is to cultivate a wholistic learning environment that prioritizes academics, social and emotional wellness and workforce development opportunities that strengthen and support adult learners in reaching their goals.

We provide support services such as one on one tutoring , on-site mental health services, life skills training and career preparation services and TWO industry recognized certification pathways.

 Why Learning Works

The core motivation behind SBLC is to support the desire in each person to learn and excel to the highest points of her or his abilities and potential. At SBLC, we know that learning can foster an individual’s literacy success, which can, in turn, work to help learners as they develop their career pathways. That’s why we say, “Learning works.”

This innovative model distinguishes itself by offering options to the GED and the National External Diploma Program. Learners are able to attend classes in the morning 9am-12pm and/or evening 5:30pm – 8:30pm, 4 days a week, 12 months a year. SBLC|LearningWorks also addresses critical non-academic barriers to employment opportunity, such as transportation, childcare, reliable housing, mental and physical health.
