GED & NEDP Assessments

SBLC Learning Works offers two pathways to earn your Maryland High School Diploma: preparation to take the GED test and assessment through the National External Diploma Program (NEDP). Learn more about the tests and assessments you will need to complete to earn your diploma depending on which program you enroll in:

GED TEST NEDP ASSESSMENT
How does it work? Successfully pass all four GED® exams at an official testing site with a minimum score of 145

  • Reasoning through Language Arts
  • Mathematical Reasoning
  • Science
  • Social Studies
Complete at-home activities and online checks (quizzes) with 100% accuracy

  • Cultural literacy
  • Financial literacy
  • Civic literacy
  • Health literacy
  • Geography /history
  • Science
  • Workplace topics
What type of assessment is this? Timed tests, consisting of multiple-choice questions, short answer, fill-in-the-blank and essays
  • Work at your own pace
  • Questions require short answer responses and skill demonstrations, in-person (currently online) with an NEDP Assessor
How long does it take? Each test takes about 90 minutes; however, if you don’t score 145, you have to retake the test Most participants take from 6- 12 months to complete the program
How much is done online? All four tests are online All the at-home activities and checks (quizzes) are online. (Currently, all NEDP activities are entirely done online.)

What is required to qualify for this assessment? GED Testing Service requires that you be at least 17 years old and officially withdrawn from school You must be at least 18 years old and score at the 9th grade level on math and reading tests
How much does it cost? No cost for SBLC learners currently enrolled and in good standing No Cost
