Programs

SBLC offers a variety of programs to help you meet your goals:

  • Adult Basic Education – General Education and GED Preparation
  • NEDP – Online program for earning your high school diploma
  • Workforce Development – job readiness and skill-building opportunities

Adult Basic Education

SBLC’s level preparation classes are offered year-round. Each academic session is 8-12 weeks long and includes a variety of class times and schedules to accommodate the scheduling needs of our learners. Classes meet twice weekly and are typically offered in the morning from 9:00-12:00 pm and in the evening from 5:30-8:30 pm virtually.

Who is this program best for?

Whether you want to earn your high school diploma or have your high school diploma but have other goals that require a better understanding of math or reading, this program could be right for you. This program is especially effective for those that have a flexible schedule to meet during class time.

National External Diploma Program (NEDP)

SBLC also offers the NEDP, an applied performance assessment system that assesses the high school level skills of adults in life and work contexts. NEDP awards the same Maryland High School Diploma as passing the GED test or completing traditional high school.

Who is this program best for?

Because NEDP is a work at your own pace and time program, it is great for someone with a busy schedule and self-starters. If you are comfortable with basic technology, this program is a great option for you!

Workforce Development

SBLC works with partners from all over the city to offer career readiness, training, and networking opportunities for learners currently unemployed or learners looking for their next career.

Who is this program best for?

Everyone can benefit from our Workforce Development programs whether you have a job or not. Building general career readiness skills, writing your resume, preparing for certification exams, or finding new career opportunities are just some of the ways we can help.
