Apply to Volunteer

SBLC welcomes anyone who would like to serve as a volunteer. Some positions, such as tutoring roles, may have restrictions such as:

  • Volunteers must be a least 18 years of age or older.
  • Volunteers wishing to work with our adult population must have their bachelor’s degree.
  • Volunteers may be subject to a background check.
  • Volunteers must be willing to make a minimum one-year commitment to SBLC and the learners.

Ubaldo Jimenez was born in the Dominican Republic. At 16, he turned down a $20K signing bonus to continue HS. His senior year, he accepted a $50K signing bonus with the Rockies under the condition that he be allowed to finish HS before left for the US. Ubaldo was talking college courses while still being a professional baseball player making little more than league minimum most of his career. He had no idea that eventually the Orioles would offer him a $10 million/year contract.While with the Orioles, he became a US Citizen in 2016.
